First initial conversation is just to get a rough idea of what it is that you want fabricated. Custom metal fabrication is exactly that, so the process is different for very customer. I usually will have some photos or something visual to aid in making a decision in what direction to go. Then I will create an estimate and send over an estimate to the customer and they can decide whether they want to proceed ahead with the project.
Once the estimate has been reviewed by the customer, I will then create an invoice and send it to the customer so they can make the initial deposit to start the custom metal fabrication work. The deposit is going to cover material cost, and other costs associated with that specific project. If the project is outside of Sacramento be prepared to pay for travelling expenses aswell. Along with the invoice will be a scope of work, detailing the timeline and the work that will be performed by BMF.
After the deposit is made, I will create a digital rendering using CAD software essentially building the project in a computer before any material or anything actually begins being built. that allows me to get a very detailed list of materials so there isn’t going to be any extra spending or any extra materials left over and it also gives the customer a chance to see exactly what it is that I’m going to be building for them so that there is no miscommunications or misunderstandings about the project.
Construction begins
