Quality ironwork and metal fabrication
Quality ironwork and metal fabrication
Thanks to all the advancements in modern manufacturing iron and steel are becoming more affordable. Gone are the days of seeing beautiful iron only on expensive homes. Now virtually everyone can afford to have the added safety of a gate and fence around there home, or a custom iron railing inside there home. Here are some fun facts: 1.Quality ironwork can boost property value up to 15% 2. Installing quality iron is the single most thing you can do to boost your properties value 3. There is no maintenance with ironwork, once its in you dont have any upkeep.
For custom railings you can expect to pay anywhere from $150-$700 per linear foot. Since its custom work its all a case by case basis and pricing fluctuates because of all the variables that go into each project.
Again when it comes to custom jobs it varies greatly because there are so many different options that someone has, I mean the sky is really the limit. We can pretty much do whatever your imagination can think of. So with that being said I would say generally speaking the average price for a custom gate is about $5,000-$10,000 and then if you want it to be automated thats another approximately $1,600-$5,000 depending on what options you want with the automation.
A more budget friendly option would be steel tubing instead of wrought iron and if your asking yourself what is the difference between the two I will tell you. Wrought iron means worked iron. So think of a blacksmith hammering steel on an anvil that is wrought iron. Steel tubing are the more cookie cutter gates that you see all over. They are usually very simple in design so they can be produced faster and cheaper. Now people tend to always say wrought iron when referencing steel gates so dont be fooled they are not the same. The price point for these are between $1,500-$4,500
When it comes to installing gates you have three ways to go about it. The first is for light gates that dont weigh much. You get a couple of posts usually 3 inch square tubing and dig a hole 3 feet deep stick the posts in and pour cement around it. The cost for that is typically $1,500-$2,000. The second method is to put outriggers on the posts to help keep the posts from leaning over time. That typically costs $2,500-$3,000. And your third option is to install a thresh hold between the posts along with outriggers to insure that the posts will never move an inch over time. That typically runs about $4,000-$5,500. As for railing the installation is usually included in the price per linear foot.
